I am going to look at a 1466 here in the next couple days, what do I need to look for when I check the tractor? Thanks

You can rock one of the front wheels back and forth to see if there is much slack in the front end.

Look closely at the key-way on the cast centers in the rear wheels - where they touch the axles. If they were ever ran loose, the cast center may show some wear.

Look for any welding around the three point hitch, the draw bar, and the front axle.

Hi Adam,

Make sure there is no anti-freeze in the engine oil, that the T/A works on both sides and and make sure all the hydraulics operate okay. The steering, brakes the PTO and the hitch.

That covers the main points.

Allan

Thanks for the help guys. I'm waiting on a phone call to ask the owner some questions before I go and look at it. My question to yall is can the tractor be equipped with a T/A if it dosen't have it already? Also how would I check the anti-freeze in the oil? I'm a green thumb at the gear drive IH's because I'm use to running a 1066 Hydro. Thanks
