On the steering coulm wher the mag kill switch is bracket that holds the switch there is a thing that looks like a vacume deiafram with a linkage that does,nt go anywhere the tractor is gas only . it is a 1940 has never ben panted thanks sorry about my spelling

That was part of the pneumatic lift control that these tractors had. You could pull the lever and when the implement was as far up as it should go this diaphram kicked the lever back to the neutral position.
