I have a 1947 Cub Farmall with a belly mower. I am having trouble with the rear main seal fitting very loosely. Has anyone had this problem and is there a solution? Thank you.

I had the same problem. To stop the oil leak you have to get a new seal holder along with a new seal. The cost is about $130.00. I havn't had any problems with oil leaks once I installed the new part with a new seal.

There are two seals sold, some gasket kits come with both the small and large diameter seals. You can buy the larger diameter seal that you need from a CNH dealer.

OI have the same problem with my 1966 Cub Low-boy. I put the larger seal in it when I split it last year to put a clutch in it. It still leaks. I asked at the local CNH dealer and they told me that was common. The said the new seal is a little different than the original and that I needed to put lock-tight around the outside of it when I install it. i did that and it worked untill the engine warmed up. not it leaks just like before. about 1/2 quart every 10 hours of operation. I have decided to live with it until I overhaul the motor next summer. I would like to do it now but I am in the process of overhauling the F-20 and can only afford to do one at a time. I wish one you smart guys out there would figure out how to grow a money tree.

have a great day
