Are the starter motors for an H and Super H the same? I am having trouble with my Super H with the starter. It turns over very slow. I've put large battery leads, new starter mounted selenoid switch, cleaned the ground and other connections, and new battery. Nothing helps. The H works great so I want to try the one off the Super H on it.

Thanks

Ron: Take the starter you have to an auto electric rebuilder. It will come back good as new for about $100. You'll soon spend that fooling with old ones no better than what you have.

super h starter is activated by a pull rod, straight h by a switch. so they won't easily change the super will have a lump of copper for the switch to contact whereas the h will have a stud.

You've got 'em side by side, so it should be a simple task to look back and forth and see if they're the same or not.

Early Super Hs are the same. Late Super Hs moved the starter to the other side and the starter was bolted on with 3 bolts instead of 2. These are not compatible.

The Super H starter is different than the H starter.
The Super H uses a 3 bolt setup an the H uses a 2 bolt setup. Can not switch unless you switch the whole nosepiece of the starter.
