Need to disc around edges of field which is about 5.5 miles away which has grown up some. Question is this? To reduce pressure on lift while driving over what would be best way? I was thinking it would be to run small chain from each side of top rockshaft crossbar which runs between fenders and attach to disc frame and let this help support some. Is this the best way? I believe Hugh McKay mentioned one time on here he rigged something which he used with 60 gallon spray drum. Appreciate comments. Thanks

Avery: Allan is use to big heavy gear. That being said I don't think you will have any problem going with any of the implements made for the 140 fast hitch, providing you watch the rough bumps. That hitch is rated for about 500 lbs. give or take a bit depending how far the implement extends out from back of tractor.

Where I started using some caution was a sprayer holding 60 Imp. gallons, that is 600 lbs. plus about 200 for the sprayer giving a total of 800 lbs. I used two short chains one on each side running from rockshaft between fenders down to the fast hitch cross shaft. My concern with sprayer was, I was using restricted chemicals and I didn't want any spills. I also had to use considerable front end weight with the sprayer. The weak point in these hitches is the rockshaft at the hydraulic control unit beside the fuel tank. Those will break with a sudden jolt and down comes the hitch. Even with the 140 implements I would use the chains if the road was rough. I broke one of those front rockshaft arms once and it was only a mower, not particularly heavy, but a sudden jolt did the damage. Since I've made up two chains with slip hooks, I use them always if transporting any distance. Quite cheap insurance.

Hi Avery,

Heck, lift 'er up and go. I used to road equipment 24 miles between farms. Doesn't hurt 'em a bit.
