Here's another attempt to post a pic of my H with my new scanner. I appologize for it being so small, I haven't figured out how to enlarge it yet. Please bear with me. Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}

Bill, good looking tractor!

Regarding the size of the pic, most scanner software lets you set the resolution of the scanned picture before you actually do the scan. If you start with a 3x5 pic, setting 300dpi will make it huge, bigger than a 17in screen. Setting 100dpi will make it about right, setting 20dpi will make it about like this pic.

Hope this helps. mh

.jpg, .gif, and .bmp images will all default display at 72dpi no matter what. You are correct that setting any higher will create a larger image. Think of it this way, if you scan a 3"x5" picture at 144dpi, the computer displays it at 72dpi no matter what so you scanned in 432X720 pixels which if you divide by 144 is 3x5 inches right? The computer reads that at 72dpi (no matter what) so it sees 432X720 divided by 72 or 6x10 inches.
The lesson here is that especially if you intend to use these graphics on the web there is absolutely no point in scanning at a higher resolution than 72dpi.
If you want to use them for print work go ahead and scan at higher, but plan on using a different file format like .psd.....

What I generally do is to scan in the pic then scale it so I like it. Then, on my Macintosh, I do a screen capture and save the pic at exactly what I want it to look like. Then the posting is the same as what I want it to be. I don't know if the PC will do the same thing, but no one has told me how to do it, if it can be done.

Great pic Bill! Little more work with the program you are scanning into and think the size will get better. Super job on the "H".
