I hate to ask so many questions in one day (i'm kind of abusing the system.) Ok, I got the belt fixed with the help of the forum, however I now have another issue, this involves the the fast hitch. The hitch goes the opposite way of the lever, (when I puch it down it goes up) Does anyone know how the hoses are supposed to go. I currently got it set up that the hose coming form the remote is attached to the left side of the "block" in front of the seat. And I have the hoses that are coming out of the block (under the seat) left going to left side of cylinder and right going to right. I'm confused to where I went wrong?!?!
thanks for the help!
Andrew

That's the normal operation for your hydraulic control. As 504 said, Back is to raise & forward
is to Lower. My control is that way too. Hal

Switching hoses will reverse the oil flow and the direction of the cylinder but…consider the following. I am not familiar with how the SC is made but on the 560s that I have had, pushing the lever up lowered the hitch, pulling the lever down raised the hitch. On the 560 there was a "tele-depth" feature (a control rod that went from the cylinder on the hitch to the tele-depth control) that sensed the cylinder position and controlled the flow of the fluid to the cylinder. That being said:

If the C has a “tele-depth” system like the 560, reversing the hoses will really mess it up because it will raise the hitch (trying to lowering it) or lower the hitch (trying to raise it) all the way and then lock up in either the fully up or fully down position. If you decide to reverse the hoses and this occurs, you won’t harm anything if you move the lever to the opposite extreme position and shut the engine off before it moves the cylinder the opposite way.

Again someone else here that knows exactly how the SC is set up will know for sure and hopefully jump in, but reversing the hoses may or may not be an option on this particular application.

Reverse the hoses wherever it makes the most sense. Probably just switch them on the cylinder.

I think you have the hoses reversed. Hal

When you pull the lever, back is up, and foward is down. 1953 Super C.
