I recently purchased what I believe to be a Farmall F-20 tractor to restore. It looks just like all the F-20s that I can find pictures of on the internet except mine has a gearbox behind the rear axle that is some sort of mechanical implement lift. The serial number is FA9939. Can anyone out there tell me what kind of a tractor that I have by the serial number? Also, what year is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your tractor was built in February of 1935. The power-lift was an option.

I have a 36 F-20 and all the books I have read show just a power lift for the F-30 and a hyd. lift for the F-12 & F-14. I am not as familier with these as the other grey and red tractors out there :) but would love to see a picture of one on a F-20. Bob do you have a big nut in the center of the back hub or just the 6 wheel bolts holding the back wheel on? Just my 2 cents worth. Greg NE

I certainly appreciate everyone"s response. I am still not certain that I have an F20. Greg NE"s response makes me wonder if it may be an F30. Does anyone know if the serial number FA9939 designates the tractor as an F20, or could it be an F30? I am almost certain that the lift is mechanical, not hydraulic. Except for the power lift, everything else on the tractor looks like pictures of F20's I have found on the internet. Also, for some reason the two left side wheels are different from the two right side wheels. The tractor is mounted on rubber. One of the left side wheels appears to be a modified steel wheel. Can anyone elaborate on this?

How many bolts hold the pulley drive (or cover) on the right side of the transmission? Four bolts = F-20 and six bolts = F-30.

Thanks to all of you. The tractor has 4 bolts (actually studs) that hold the belt drive cover on the right hands side of the transmission, so it must be a F20.

I"m sure somebody knows more about this than I do, but on the F-20 we had in the 40"s, the contraption at the rear was to raise the cultivator.
