OK, I’ve got a Farmall M, S/N FBK-71597X.

I’m trying to put in a carb kit, but am having trouble figuring out how to identify which one I need.

There are two numbers that are cast into the metal on my carb. On the top of the carb, is cast 8557D. On the bottom of the carb is cast 6514DA. Near the governor shaft, there is a little brass raised circle with DB50983 on it.

On the parts link on this website, I bought the carb rebuild kit BK12V. But the new needle and seat assembly was too big to fit in the hole on the carb.

Which carb kit do I need?

50983 DB is the carburetor number, this is the number you need in order to get the correct carb kit. If this is the number that you ordered the kit for, and the needle seat does not fit, then the only thing I can think of is that you recieved a defective kit. It would not be the first time this has happened. Yesterdays tractors will make it right I am sure.

My catalog only list 2 carbs for the M and the kit fits either one of those. So you should be able to just go in and ask for a kit for an M and be ok.
