Unless you can run a turbo the gas is probably better.

Does open mean anything goes.To compete in that class you will need a built motor that means big bucks. To get cheaper hp ,been putting in 414,436 and 466 engines 200+hp if that is allowed otherwise use a 301 diesel or gas off a combine that way you have a stock looking engine around 80 to 90hp.

With the big block, it wont look stock in appearance for a 560,,, But if rules let you, thats the best bet. If your gonna go with the gasser, bore it to a 301, then find a truck head. You would need the rockers and valve cover off the truck engine to retro fit, but its the best option for a high rpm gasser engine. At 6000rpm, that can make 150+hp easy. The more they rev up, the more power they make. If rules let you, you could run the downdraft carb off a truck, then you have the option of a 2 bbl carb. The 400 series engines put in the 560 is pretty easy,, You can do a few different options on the engine back plate,,, Farmall M-1066 is the same bellhousing bolt pattern, which is know as the big block bolt pattern. The 1066 plate will bolt on the to the 560, or you could redrill the 560 plate to use on the back of the engine. Its mostly finding clutch parts to interchange,, look at the the clutch diameters for the 560, and the 1066, you should be able to use a 66 pressure plate, and a 560 clutch disk if they are the same diameter. Also, have the flywheel recut to have the 560 starter ring to use a stock 560 starter. ChadS

The tractor must use a stock looking engine. However you can do anything to that engine you want.
