I have a 1946 Farmall tractor (H) I have a small leak in the radiator. All the hoses are off and I have the steering rod out. Do I have to take off the (large)metal plate underneath to get the radiator out? There must be a different way that I can't figure out. Appreciate any help. Bill

I would try Bars Leak HD with Pellets ($2.34 @ wally world) before taking off radiator. Also try a different radiator cap and make sure the belt is not loose. Ive changed a couple some time ago and I dont remember those to bottome bolts being that much trouble.

IMHO, getting those two studs out of the bottom of an H radiator is probably one of the most miserable jobs that there is when you work on an H. Use PLENTY of PB blaster on the nuts several days before you try to work them loose. I've never been able to get on them with a socket, you have to use a wrench to turn them about 1/8 turn, take the wrench out, turn it over, move it 1/8 turn, etc, etc, etc. A real PIA, but they will eventually come out. Bill, There are two studs in the bottom of the radiator. The plate will need to come off. The studs have springs & nuts with cotter keys through them. ken
