Looking for some direction here. For the past couple of years I've been using a 12volt starter pack to start one of my tractors. It doesn't get used often and really, I've probably only started it using the 12volt method 20 to 30 times. I recently tried to start it up and encountered a problem. The starter will not turn it over ! I took the starter off to check for obstructions such as a mouse nest and there was nothing. I was able to turn both the starter and the motor over manually. So I'm looking for some advice. When I hit the starter, there is alway a spark from the leads, but never any starter movement.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Best Regards
Brian Carter.

check the rear bushing. starter may turn ok by hand but bushing may be worn enough to let armature drag when you apply current. more so with 12 volts. LOL

Does the starter solenoid sound as if it is engaging the starter drive? I would install a fully charged 6 volt battery along with some new 00 battery cables. Clean all terminals, battery spades, the area where the + ground cable is grounded and at the starter and make them nice &
shiny. Then try your starter. Hal

I'd look at the brushes. They may be worn down, not making good contact.
