I am very close to buying a 500E which looks to be in remarkable shape. I am curious as to age, and anything else you can tell me from the s/n #

4070089C

thanks!

I had one of these dozers for many years. Very handy and nice to operate and easy to haul. Now the bad news. I had more trouble with this machine than any other.With dry clutches and brakes, It was very suseptable to problems from moisture. They required constant adjustment. Also had the trans pinion shaft bearing come loose. Major job to fix. Excellent easy starting good running engine though. My advice, stay away and look for a TD7 orTD8. Just as nice to operate and much better mechanically.

Good Morning buckmeister2, --- 15 / Dec. / 2005 --

Your International "500E" belongs to the 500 Series crawlers that was made by IH in Hamilton, Ontiro, Canada. Here are the 500 Series;

1. "500" (and 500(D))- old style Serial Numbers.

2. "500C" (and 500C(D))- Kind and Code Serial Numbers.

3. "500E" (and 500E (D))- Kind and Code Serial Numbers.

You gave the first part of your SERIAL NUMBER -
the KIND and CODE / "4070089C" 1. 407 KIND ( this a 500 series IH crawler)
2. 0089 CODE ( this tells what type motor - gas or diesel in the crawler)
3. "C" country that it was made -- Canada
4. the numbers that follows the "C" is the actual SERIAl NUMBRER that tells the year that your "500C" was made.

Let us know what the rest of your SERIAL NUMBER is, will you?
