My M had an aftermarket push-button ignition installed--someone just drilled a hole to the left of the steering wheel and put in a round push-button.

Well, it's starting to fail--anyone know of a good source for a new one? The only one I could find at Farm and Fleet was to big to fit.

I bought one from Auto Zone about 10 years ago and it is still working fine.

Let's make sure we're talking about the same thing. What does this button do? Does it control power to the ignition? Does it make the starter turn? Some people mistakenly use the word "ignition" when they really mean starter.

If this is a starter button, then there's more to the system than just the button. Whoever installed it also installed a solenoid on the starter. The solenoid is what actually makes the starter turn, while the starter button activates the solenoid.

Make sure it's the button that's bad, and not the solenoid.

Nat,

Yup, its a starter button, hooks to an aftermarket solenoid.

The button is going bad--it sticks every now and then. I got it working, but would rather replace it than have to worry about it.
