We are looking for a nice small tractor with a loader just to use around the farm and to move round bales. Any suggestions? preferred case or ford.

Ashley: If you want something compact to handle round bales, get yourself a 1,700 lb. plus, lift capacity skid steer loader, complete with ROPS and a seat belt.

Now if the tractor is a must then make it a minamum of 60 hp, again with a 4 post ROPS.

Anything less may I suggest you order a coffin and tombstone along with tractor.

The term "small tractor" in conjunction with "front loader" and the phrase "move round bales" makes me start to sweat. The Ford 20 series tractors from the late 80's and early 90's have loaders AND ROPS and, despite the Japanese origins, are great little tractors. I would not do without my 1520 w/loader. If you are going to move round bales get the 2120 and load the tires and add weight. You can only ask so much of a ROPS. Seems like a lot of accidents happen moving round bales with loader tractors....be safe.

We prefer Farmall and other IH tractors.

You may not want one. They are obsolete, parts are a little hard to find, and may be expensive.
