The rain stopped for a while this noon, so I took the machine out and took a few pics. The color is off, because of the dampness, and mist. I know it's not a real farmall, but it runs, and dont look too bad.

Nice job! I have a nice original running F-14 that I would be hard pressed to do that to.. BUT!!! I do have enough of whats left of an F-12 AND a complete running Willys engine sitting in the garage. I would be interested in seeing a close up of the adaptor from the clutch to the drive shaft. Post one here, or email me one, if and when ya have the time. Thanks
Steve T

I did not have that shaft out of the machine, so can only surmize what is in there. It may be an input shaft from the jeep, or a home made shaft, or a machine made shaft. In any case, it is mearly a shaft with splines to match the clutch disk, and a nipple to go into the pilot bearing, and a U joint yoke is welded to the other end. It may be the original yoke from the farmall, but the double joint is not there, only one. They appearantly fitted a flange bearing on the inside of the bell housing, to help support the shaft, although I dont know that it is necessary. The clutch linkage is from the jeep, and is more complicated than necessary, and if I ever take out the engine, I will simplify it. It runs suprisingly well, and even sounds good with the straight pipe. The oversize rims from an H that were welded to the cutoff steel gears it up a bit, and the high speed engine makes this f12 fast. I am gonna take it to the fair next fall, and park it next to my friend's regular with the model A ford engine, and see if anybody notices.

I own an F-12 as well. I was imformed by grampa that top speed on that tractor was 3 1\2 mph. I really don't think he's lying because it takes quite a while with it to cruise just the driveways.

Will that one go any faster?
Richie

Yes!! The jeep engine is capable of much higher speeds, perhaps 3 times as fast as the farmall engine, and it is downright scary going around the barn. On the road, it is much less worrysome, but I bet it gets close to 10 mph.

Bill, whereabouts are you located? Reason I ask is I called a fella about a F-12 with a Willys engine in Everett, WA, a few months ago, and I'm wondering if that's the same one?

I am in historic Lebanon, CT, in the rural eastern side of the state. There is reportedly another one in this area, but the guy wants a fortune for it. Funny how different people in different parts of the country come up with the same ideas.

The one I called about was asking $200. I've been kicking myself for not buying it, the guy said the engine was pretty much shot, I was thinking a Ford flathead V-8 would be a nice touch.

I dont think a 85 horse v8 will fit, the bell housing is too big, but I have a 60 horse v8 that I have been eyeing for a possible swap. That would really give some power!

If I didn't know what an F12 engine actually looked like, that surely couldsa fooled me! Almost looks like there's enough room in there for a small block Chevy! G

The reason it fits so good is not only the length, but the small bell housing. Anything modern is too wide. My friend has a regular with a model A ford engine, but that is too wide and long for a f12. I think the jeep is a winner.

Not pretty, but it works good. I left the bellhoousing cover off, because with the cover on, the mice have a place to hide, and made a nest.

Now I just need decals, a radiator cap, and make a connector from the carb to the air cleaner.

Here it is parked next to f12 and f14 hulks, that could look like this with a jeep engine.
