can anyone tell me if there are any marks or numbers on an LP head for a 400 or 450 that are visible without taking the valve cover off

yes you can ,the runner,s are not buried under a inch of metal, you can uctully put your hand up under the hood and feel the top of the runner,s.ase in a gas head you look at the port,s and the top of them had a nother inch and then turned 90 degreeze and went in to the valve cover. on the good lp head about 3/8 of a inch above the port,s you can feel the top of them into the edge of the valve cover, about a inch worth.look,s like runner, son a v8 motor.and the port,d angle more toward the combustion chamber. did harvester build the first hi port head??.also all 4oo head,s are not the good one, also it,s a openchamber head no real quench area.
