What year M's used the curved post style seat support. I have a 48 MV with this support. Will the later model supports with spring and shock absorber bolt directly to the earlier model attachment points? Thanks

If you want a real thrill, see what happens if the bolt through the center of the spring breaks. Happened to Dad once. You drop aobut 6 inches as the end of the bolt goes up past your nose. LOL

The shock type seats were optional on Ms do not know when they were first available. Parts book shows`pipe type seat for FBK 9287 and up and shock type seats as (special). The mounting holes on deck are the same from FBK 9287 up.

Except for the 39-40? slot tops, the seats are interchangeable. Some 48's were equipped with the aftermarket Monroe seat with the large shock behind the spring. I have a 47 M that I replaced the old curved style seat for the newer style with the small shock -- direct bolt on.

You or someone else asked about the spring a while back. I think all the new springs are the heavy duty type. I have the opposite problem, I weigh 100 pounds less than you and would rather have a lighter one, as the seat does not depress enough. I believe all the other parts except the shock are interchangeable on both, but I have not compared them.

Randy, new pivot pins are available. A heavy duty seat spring used to be available, don"t know if it still is or not. I have seen several heavier guys equip the seats with dual springs, one inside of the other.
