I have put 301 motors in 560's and 460's and the I.D. for them is on the right side rather than on the left.Look for a small flat spot on the side of the block up front near the water pump.

I think the 806 had a 301 gas engine with a tall valve cover to make it look bigger than it was.
Most 301's that I know of being in a 560 or a 706 are out of combines. So the statement " Has a 806 motor would be false" I dont think a 301 out of a 806 would fit in a 560 with out a new valve cover any way.
301's from combines have the regular valve cover as they didnt need to fool any one.

Know that a 301 is a sleeveless motor. Overhaul requires a rebore of the cylinder.

At least thats what I think I know.

Look for the engine size where the engine number is stamped on the block. 263/392/301 etc.

What I can think of is go to a dealer and get it tested for hp.That will tell you what you have in it.

Don't know about an 806, but I had a 560 with a 291 gas in it one time out of a 706, and my dad still has the tractor, and it was a pulling brute. Sure did like the gas though. Good luck Harley

One of my former co-worker's had a 1957 or 1958 Ford with the retracable hardtop. It had twin
4 barrel carburetors too. Some ask him how he knew when the other 4 barrel was working, he said when the gas gauge came away from the full mark.

That same man is retired from the government too
and has a farm in the next county. He's in his late 80's and doesn't farm anymore. He just bought a new Lincoln. Hal
