I have a 43 B i need a new crank pulley for it, mine has a threaded hole in it for a set screw and all of the new ones that i find dont have it. just curious if the ones with no set screw hole would work ok? are they just a press fit?
thanks alot!

Andy

I replaced mine too, and like yours, the new one didn't have the set screw. It was press fit only, with an interference fit of about .002-.003.

Since I may have to be the one who takes the pulley off someday, I decided to make a change. I took a little material out of the bore of the pulley until it was the same ID as the OD of the crankshaft. I then drilled and tapped a set screw into the new one.

I heated the pulley up to about 200 deg F when I put it back on. It took only a few light taps to put it in place, then cooled it with wet rags, tightened the set screw and was done.

I did it that way because I didn't like the idea of having to press that hard on the crankshaft to put the pulley on. It's been just fine so far.
