I previously asked a question about the noise in the TA. I took the cover off on top and foud the noise. My throw out bearing is shot. It is just ratttling around in there, no bearings left at all. It will have to be split just like if I was going to fix the TA. Is ther anything else I should look at when I have it apart. Also when I push in the clutch it still does not release the transmission all the way. there is still pressure on the stick shift snf it grinds the gears. Does that mean the clutch is worn also? I have made several adjustment and still no better.

Bryan,

Ya gotta get that second throw out bearing working or else it is just like you want the tractor to use two different transmissions at the same time. It is fighting itself.

Good news is that your "stiff shift" is proving that the T/A is probably okay.

From my expierence if the TA clutch is not working there will still be pressure on the transmission. I replace a TA in my 350 and did not get adjusted right and there was still pressure on the transmission, I now have it adjusted right and it shifts like it is suppose to.
