I am runing a front loader with power bucket with the 300 hyd. system . I've lost alot of the power to the loader , but seem to have good power to the bucket and the rear lift . Could it be the control valve (300 3 valve setup) ? Is there an addjustment on the valve ? Where can I get a diagram of the valve ? Any suggestions would be appreciated .

Thanks , Carl I've looked thru some of the past posts and this forum looks great !

What do you mean by "lost a lot of power?" It's slower? It can't lift as much? What? Please explain what you mean.

The valves are all stacked together up underneath the instrument panel on a 300, with a common central pressure line running through them all. If sufficient pressure is getting there to operate the bucket and the hitch normally, then sufficient pressure MUST be getting to the valve that lifts the loader arms. Any "loss of power," whatever that means, has to be internal to the valve that lifts the loader arms, or slop in the linkage that runs from the control lever to the valve.

Take the hood cowling off from in front of the instrument panel and look in there while you operate the levers. You should see an obvious difference in the movement of the three valve linkages, which will indicate slop in the linkages.

If they all appear to move equally, then there is a blockage inside the valve itself. This will require some surgery to remove and repair.

Sorry , I should have explained it better . By power I ment it won't lift as much as it used to . It changed over a short period of time . The loader has two way cylinders , when I let it set overnight with the loader raised it dosn't settle . Could it be that the cylinders are passing fluid under pressure ? Thanks for your patience and help .

Andy: Could anything have disturbed the shaft out of top of valve for changing from single to double action? I've seen those get out of the clip that hold it in position and it will adversly affect the performance of the valve.

Do you have quick couplers on hoses going to loader lift cylinders? I've seen quick couplers cause a remote valve to be slow and weak as well.

If your loader stays up overnight, it can't be bypassing within the cylinders.

Hugh , I don't realy know just how the control valves work , but I don't think anything has hapened to change anything on the valve . There are no quick couplers . I quess I just have to dig into the controls and figure out how they work .

Thanks for your help .

Andy: If you take the right side of hood off, just behind the fuel tank are the hydraulic control valves. On top of each one you will see pin protruding, kind of rounded on two sides and flat on other sides and a 5/8 open end wrench will fit on those for turning them. Those change each valve from double action to single action. When new they had an 1/8" pin out the side and a clip to hold it in either double or single action mode. Over the years some of those pins and clips have rusted, leaving nothing to hold the large pin in the selected position. I know if that large pin gets turned half way between double and single action, that one valve will not work well. Been there and done that. I expect that large pin can also turn beyond it's normal range, I haven't experienced that. All you need do is move the control lever to see which valve.

The only other thing I can think of would be a blockage in the hoses going to the cylinders, and that can happen if the inside layer peels off a hose, then plugs in a port or fitting. I would explore those two first, for two reasons: First it is the easy fix, and secondly internal problems within that valve bank would probably affect all valves. If you have to remove those valves, it's not a picnic, just about impossible to do without removing the fuel tank.
