I was dumb and did not know that I had to time the distrubutor when I removed it to install points. I removed it from the half of the distributor, not with the base (removed it from half of the dist.) How do I time It when removed improperly??? Thanks.

andy: put #1 cylinder on TDC compression. Line up pointer with the double notch.
Aim the distributor rotor at #1 cap terminal (about 2 o"clock) and slide the unit together.
Snug the clamps down; rotate the dist. body clockwise so the points are closed and then rotate back until the points just begin to open. Lock it down & you are set to go.
