Good afternoon guys / girls! Wanted to know if anyone could identify the following IH hay rake. Picked it up a few weeks back for a one-hundred dollar bill. All it needed was to have the service chain replaced and a few rake teeth replaced. I have not been able to identify it. The only clue I have had is that the replacement rake tooth that fits it looks to fit only the IH #5 rake made post 52'. Is this correct? The old girl runs like a sewing machine...just looking to get a little bit more information on it. Thanks in advance!

Billy

Yes,it is a McCormick-Deering #5. That hitch on yours was only used the first two years(1951 and 52). After that a "Y" type hitch was used that gave more clearance when turning.

Aha! I have my answer! Thanks for the additional information. I've spent some time cruising old photos looking to positively identify it. Thanks again!

I have one just like it that you can have for a cheap price. Theres a gear in the gear box broke on my rake, its a weak place in them and at one time I had 2 and both of them had the same piece brake. Sorry I can't tell you what the model is. I usto pull it behind a B I had back then, we pulled it in 3rd gear and it worked great till the part broke
