I've also had good results by saving the oil filter for last. When re-filling the crankcase, put the last quart of oil directly in where the oil filter goes (large and small holes), just before starting the engine.

Sure your guage is good? Get a 100 psi hyd. pressure guage from your local auto parts or hyd. shop. Install directly into the oil gallery. Start the engine, shut it down if oil pressure does not come up within five seconds. I always pack oil pumps full of assembly grease, always works.

You should've primed the pump. You may need to drop the pan and set it in a pan of clean oil to be on the safe side. Make sure you have working a oil pressure gauge. I would still pump that oil into the oil gallery. You should have the gauge installed in a pipe tee so you can shutoff the oil gallery feed. The pressure should be ok then. Hal

How are you determining that you dont have pressure? Ive never had a gauge register when turning over theengine with the starter, but cpome up as soon as its running.

Sometimes if you let it (the pump) sit overnight submerged in oil (in the pan or otherwise) the oil does migrate to where it needs to be to prime itself, if this is your problem...Randy

Packing the gears with petroleum jelly (Vaseline)
helps them prime quickly.

Where you're at now, you can try filling the crankcase WAY overfull of oil, cranking it until the pump primes, then drain out the excess oil BEFORE trying to start it.
