im redoing a 48 M for pulling what would be the best way to go will a 400 or a 450 motor fit in the M is the stroker kit from dennys worth it

The big ??? how much money ya got? The first 100hp is not too pricey after then lots of money. You must not know much about HP or you wouldnt be asking here i would think your best bet would be to buy one that already has the HP you want as they are listed for sale quite often. The motors can be pricey and you need to go step by step when building one so getting more HP is a step by step thing. Read the pullers site for good tips and parts. What rules do you have to follow where you plan to run as they do vary a bunch.

Do what ever the rules let you do! Depends on what kind of pulling your going to do to determine what kind of engine you need. If the rules let you upgrade to the C-264-C-281 block from the 400-450, you can build yourself a real good M at 281ci. those are a better engine VS the older M blocks, bolts right in the M, use the timing cover and crank pulley from the 400, then maybe someday down the road, a live hyd pump could be added if it goes back to farm work.
