My 1950 SA oil pressure starts out in the middle of the gauge, after 30 min it starts to drop slowly, after another 30 min it just above the red zone on the gauge and stays there all day. I don't think the engine has ever been rebuilt, cant be sure of that?
The tractor sounds and runs fine, smokes a blueish-gray color under load. Do I just need a new gauge? Has this happen to anyone?

Start out by getting yourself a 100 psi hydraulic pressure guage. Install it in place of the tractor's guage. You'll need a short length of hyd. hose with female 1/4" pipe thread on one end to connect to the guage and male 1/8" pipe thread on the other end to connect to the engine. Check out the pressure with this set-up to see where it's really at. The most common reason for oil pressure to drop when hot in a C-123 engine is the bottom plate of the oil pump. They tend to become warped. Many have been fixed by simply removing the oil pan, removing the plate, and having it machined flat. Some guys have even fixed them with a piece of sandpaper and a block of wood.

I would install a new gauge graduated in psi,ex:
0-100psi. Then see where your pressure stabilize's after the engine is hot. If the engine has never been rebuilt your bearings may
be worn from use. The oil pump could getting worn too. The screen on the pump may be sludged
restricting the pump to pick up oil. It may a good idea to plasti-gauge the bearings for wear
and clearance. Rod journals and mains may be worn. Hal

Thanks guys, I'll get a 100 PSI gauge first and see what it reads, Then drop the oil pan and check things out.
