It takes a pretty good mag to fire across the safty gap every time. Maybe you are expecting too much. What does it do if you hold a screwdriver near the high tension lead?

I have had two H4 mags in the near past that did that to me and it turned out to be brand new coils that were bad. I had to send them back. Its hard to diagnose mag intermitin problems. i have rec points brand new that the spring was to short on and were grounding also. But I eleminate different things while holding my palm over the nub on the coil and turning it backwards untill I feel a hotter spark. But In my oppinion it may be a coil shorting inside. I do know a very good F4 mag man if you want his # he is usally pretty cheap also Specialy if you tell him I sent you . Do you have another coil laying around you can try? Let me know what you deside I may be able to help. JON
