What I need to know at this point is how to set the carb adjusting screws. It has the brass carb. It has a big one on the top.How many turns out for that one? There is one down low and forward. How maney turns out on this one. I got the tractor a year ago. The man said he ran it about 3 years before that. It has the F-4 mag. I got spark. I did nothing to the motor. But set the valve lash. Thanks for the hslp guys Bill

bill, janicholson has covered most of it. a couple of things we should know; did you go through the valves, rings, etc. , or was this a running tractor and you just did the carb? does it have the brass ensign carb? i didn't look through the forum, and you might have talked about this stuff already. does it have the e4a magneto that you have to set the impulse, or does it have an auto impulse that clicks all the time? or does it have the f-4 mag? aren't those a great little tractor? can't hardly pass up ever buying one.

Be very sure it is not in gear!!!!! !!

When cranking, Place all your fingers and your thumbs (assumes both hands) on the same side of the crank handle on each hand. This prevents them from being ripped off if it kicks back for any reason.

Pull up on the crank only. Do not spin the crank. If it isn't starting when it goes over center, somthing else is wrong, do not try to spin the crank..... Pushing down on the crank puts your face and arm bones in a place of high impact....

Make sure the Mag impulse is working (Snaps when turning crank)

Be sure the mag grounding button is in the non-grounded position (out)

Good luck, JimN
