I’m in the process of trying to sort out the status of the Lift-All system on my M.

I bought a pressure gauge and hooked it up to the line that had been going to the Lift-All cylinder. It read 900-950 psi. I have the M and W aftermarket pump that mounts in front of the distributor. Does this pressure reading sound right?

Like I said, it read about 900 pounds, but as soon as I released the lever, the pressure quickly bled off. How does this work when I have a mower deck mounted on the back of the tractor? I had hoped that with the Lift-All, I could lift up the deck, and it would stay lifted up until I lowered it. Am I missing a check-valve or something?

Is there any sort of schematic diagram of how the fluid should flow through the hydraulic system? I don’t feel like I have a good understanding of what each hose is for and why. For example, I have two levers. To get the thing to lift, I have to pull one lever and hold it out, while I pull the other lever. Why is that?

As always, thatnks for the help. Y'all are good people.

i have been studying your photo hear of you hydraulic and i have some observations and questions. first, it looks like the belly pump is still in the tractor. the christmas tree valve sitting right in front of the belt pulley was to add two way hydraulics to the old one way system. yoou have a line coming out of the side of the belly pump hooking to the front input of the x-mas valve and then you have two output hoses on the back. one hose runs to the rear of the tractor, the other appears to be unhooked behind the belt pulley. the second hose should go to the cylinder if it is a two way cylinder. if it is not a two way cylinder you would disconnect the hose from the front of the x-mass tree and run that directly to the cylinder. and use the lower rod to control the hydraulics. all the way back, up, center position, hold, foreward, lower cylinder. regarding the pressure, the old belly pumps were 600 psi, the later ones were 900 so yours is good. what puzzles me is the distributor driven live pump. the pump is plumbed on your tractor to suck oil from the belly pump and then it looks like it is just looped back to the belly pump drain. if that is the case the live pump is not hooked up to anything. if that is the case, you can put another two way valve in the line from the live pump and have a second system. one would be live all the time, the second would work only when the clutch is out. email me if any other questions.

I don't have specs on the pressure, but if I remember, yours is about right. The implement should stay up. You lock the lower lever back and leave it that way. Then you use the upper lever. The remote valve in front of the pulley is for trailing implements, or in your case the assumed 3 point for your bush hog. It gives pressure up and down, as opposed to the cylinders attached to the lower one, which are one way, that is pressure up gravity down. I could guess at the hose routing and probably be right, but I don't have the factory remote, so someone else can tell you what the routing is.
