Looking for a replacement engine for the B. One piston just won't budge and sleeve is pretty badly corroded. Does anyone have an engine for sale? The salvage yard wants $1,0000!!!. Wondering what a fair price would be

I just got done snooping around on Ebay again. There is one listed for sale, it is in Ellsworth Wisconsin. He also has something I need, if I get it bought could maybe bring engine back with me if that would help, don't know where you are. I am in Westcentral Illinois, 10 miles west of Macomb. Hope this helps.

I purchased a Farmall C several years ago for $600 and it works around the yard all the time. It even had fenders and hydraulics, PTO, Belt pulley. All it needed was a timing gear which I got through someone here. If I were you, try and fix it yourself as the guys here recommed. It would be a lot cheaper and you would have the enjoyment of the project and learn from your experience. Bob

For well under $1000 you can buy a good running B tractor and have lots of spare parts.

If the block is not damaged, I'd drive that piston & sleeve out and re-use the block.

Unless that salvaged block is a very recent overhaul, that $1,000 would be better spent on the block you already own. When you are done, it would be a like new engine.

I would agree with Bob on rebuilding your engine.
Soak those pistons with ATF and then see if they can be driven out using a piece oak and a hammer.
Those are wet sleeves and are not pressed into block. When you start tapping on the connecting
rods the sleeve and piston may come out together.

If all this fails your local auto machine shop can remove them. With a new sleeve and piston kit, crankshaft polished or ground, new bearings
and the cylinder head reworked your engine will
last a long time. Hal

Unless your block is cracked, why not OH the engine you have?

For less than the likely cost of a RUNNING used engine, you can get pistons and sleeves, bearings, gaskets, and regrind your crank (IF needed), and have a LIKE NEW engine.
