I bought a 460 utility int there is a constant grinding noise in the rear end. If you put foot on clutch it stops. The shifter on the side of the tractor is not hooked to anything. I"m not sure if it is a ta or reverser. you can get the shifter to move but it puts the drive in nuetral, pto still turns put tractor does not move in any gear. move shifter back and tractor moves, noise is back, and pto still works. Serial plate has a triangle stamped on it and letters W X Z Any info would be helpful

x-high speed low and reverse attachment
y-hydra-touch power supply attachment (12 GPM pump)
z-hydra-touch power supply attachment (17 GPM pump)

You need to understand that the IPTO gets its power from a spline on the pressure plate which is bolted to the flywheel. When the IPTO is engaged, it will always turn when the engine is turning. It has no connection to the transmission because the power is split off before the reverser or TA. Those two items get their power from the clutch disc when it is "clamped" between the pressure plate and flywheel.

I can't help you with the noise as I know nothing about reversers. In fact, it could be something downstream of that unit. That would be the transmission.

Don't know what the "W" stands for. It is not mentioned in my 460 parts book. Same goes for the triangle. I kinda think the triangle indicates a dealer modification or a warrantee repair like the axle bearing problem on the 560.
