I am now a owner of a 1984 684 . It looks like there are alot of great knowledgable people on this forum so I may be asking questions after I research the archives. Thanks for the input I already received from this forum that led me to a decision to purchase (and no I dont hold anyone responsible if I have issues with this tractor) Thanks again for your time and input!

Hello, I came across your forum and need a little advice. An older gentleman that I have known for several years has sold his cattle herd to me an I leased his farm. He has got one of the cleanest older tractors I have ever seen. He has offerd to sell me this tractor and asked that I check around and see what it is worth. It is a 684 international with a westendorf loader, Has the rollover canopy top. This tractor only has 3500 hrs on it and is perfect from one end to the other. nice factory paint, no dents, no welds on loader, no oil leaks, Tires are 80%. He uses it a couple times a year to bushhog the 200 acre pastures, and to unload round hay bales. The rest of the time it sets in a nice tractor shed with concrete floors. He runs it a little once a month and changes the oil and filters before each season of work. I really like the looks of this tractor and think it is about the right size I need. Are these pretty solid tractors and what would be a fair price? From 1 to 10 this tractor would be a definite 10. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Darrell in southern missouri

Brian, The 684 is a very good tractor. If your's is a 1984, it likely has a torque amplifier. (Shift it quickly). Check out the serial #, perhaps it is one of the last ones made before they became Case-IH 685's. I've got a real late 684 with the torque-Amplifier emblems (decals) on the sides. Actually have a 664, 674, and the 684. Sent pic of them to RED POWER but it was a poor pic & never published. Only about 898 of the 664's built so I figured it unlikely that anyone else had a 6,7 and 8.

Hi Brian, our family farm has 454,495,684 and 3230 basically all the same tractor with different engines.

Very reliable tractors but have a couple weak pionts, power brakes on the older models and parking brake being left on by operator.

Oh yeah, I bought a 684 brand new in 1978. It was a handy dandy little tractor. Had 15.5 X 38 rubber on it. What size are your tires?
