What year(s) did they use the small pto shaft on the H? Why so small to start with?

PTO shaft diameters I think were changed in 1942 (working from memory here). The first shafts were IH's own size, but then they switched to the ASAE standard shared with the rest of the industry.

So the small shafts (which were the same size as small Fords?) were changed out in 1942 totally. Would a tractor after 1942 have this small PTO shaft as a 'leftover'? I thought mine was a '44 but it has a small shaft (alos no tag).

I also have a small shaft on a 43 H humm make ya wonder maybe I got the leftovers from 42 :-)
