Guy, Could you please authenticate a high-crop for me. I have a Super M with serial #31790, it has a SMV designation. I just want to be sure, before I restore it to it's original condition, due to the fact that it has been switched over to a row-crop version. Also, where could I obtain the book that has all these serial numbers of high-crops in it?
Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

Does the serial number plate look like the original plate with the suffix SMV? Also look on the front bottom of the clutch housing and see if there is or you can tell if there was a bracket for the front axle radiusrods or stayrods to connect to. Does it possably still have the flange type rear axle housings?

There is no book to authenticate individual tractors as being either high crops or non-high crops. Even casting codes might not be that much help, due to the limited production nature of the tractor.

Can I call the archives, could they tell me whether or not it's the real deal?
I talked with a gentleman in Iowa that said he had a book for this and that he had been discussing high-crops numbers with you.

The archives doesn't have this information.
