Why blue cultivators, w/47 SA

I think later on in 60s some of the cultivator lift frames were white. When I bought my Super A it had white lift frames. The previous owner told me it did not have cultivator when he bought the tractor and he added those new in the 60s, Lift frames were white and other parts were same as my 130. I've seen numerous 140s with white lift frames, I assume thay came that way. Another observation on those white lift frames, while specs are the same, they were made from different raw steel, leading me to believe IH were probably out sourcing those sometime after 1960.

Our 140's have white lift arms too. I also noticed they are a little differant from the ones on my Super A. The 140's have a more square type arm and the Super A has more rounded and a little more tapered arm.

The 140's also have a "IH" emblem on the lift arm.

I was suprised to find blue on mine too when I started redoing it. I thought someone must have repainted it and just didnt care what color he used. Did a little research and found out that in fact things were painted blue, never would have guess it at the time.

On mine the lift arms and lift rods are blue. The rest of the stuff like the tool bar, clamps, spring tips, and pressure rods are black.

I think the sweeps came laquored but I pained mine black.

There was a spell back in 47-48 when the red paint shortage caused IH to paint most of their implements for the Super A, Cub, and C all blue. There's a paint committee decision in the archives about it.
