I was looking at a parts tractor today and it looked like an H by the angle of the steering shaft. Serial plate was gone. the pto had a housing on the back of the tranny housing where my 41 does not . mine just comes straight from the housing. Is this a later model or maybe a super H. there was no tin on this tractor or brakes. had a splined shaft where the brakes were supposed to be. anyone know what it might be

Almost all later Hs had an in/out box on the outside of the housing with a selector lever visible on its side. There was a rd that went from there to a clip on the platform for the operator to pull/push. Yhere was a change to a more universally accepted spline as well. So it is still unknown. The rear housing is much larger on an M (but the PTO looks the same. If it has flat worn ring shaped areas around the splined "brake" shafts, and bolt holes close to the flat, it may be a SH. JimN

that sounds like what i was looking at. don't remember if it had the grooves on the splined brake shaft. A cousin of mine had it on a truck for someone else scrap. I told him to inquire if the owner would like to sell it. I dout if i hear from him. less than reliable

I think the early h is alittle different than the later h shaft
