Has anyone priced a seat suspension from mother CaseIH lately? Or, know of another vendor?

Got one that the bushings are loose, but it has already been "tack welded" once.

Almost scared to call 'em. :>(

Allan, Well my phone lines have been down, since yesterday afternoon, or I would ave respoded sooner!
I bought a set of aftermarket seat bushings the other day for my 966. They were $30 EACH!! Mother IH wants over $70 EACH! Ouch either way!!!. My local IH dealer carried the aftermarket bushings, so it wasn't ard to get them. Its the different steel parts that worry me, for mine as a bunch of slack in some of them. Anywayyyyy.
Later,
John A.

Wow. After all the imfo. you have passed on I think I can help you this one time anyway.
I re-built the seat on a IH 574 [it's the scissor type action with a small shock between the scissors]. Sounds like yours is the same.
I removed the whole seat assemby ground off the tack welds to remove the pins [I think they were made that way from the factory] You can get all the bushings from Case-IH. I replaced the shock [wore right out] re-assembled and re welded the pins as they were. They were plastic bushings in mine, I bought the two large ones that fit around the main tube and made the ones that fit on the pins but they wern't too expensive from the dealer. I also replaced the cushioned seat. Most of my trouble was getting the seat assembly off the tractor. The adjuster was seized and I had to adjust it both forward and back to access the screws. Now it's as good as new. Hope this helps on your tractor.. Eldon from Ont.

Starter bushings fit right in the thing. Like I say, it's been "tacked" before tho.

Allen,

If the old one is still off the machine, Maybe you could remove the "organic" parts and braze weld the bushings back into the frame. US Seat company makes commercial seat systems, How about an air ride from a bent simi tractor. JimN

Oh, I dunno,

I'm kind of fussy 'bout keeping them more or less original. Think it is just the "old man" in me. :>)

Looks to me that tractor has a nice place to live - fancy windows in the garage door and all. Have you got it that nice? P.S. remember to concentrate your urine tonight, ok??

Or in the case of Sound deadening a little bit better. Looking very good. That cab will be so well outfitted and quiet that your gauges will be used tell if it is running:-) JimN

When I did the c/p action, a message stated no item matched this number? I also saved the website and plan to go back and check out the "links". Just previewed this page. Allan, cast iron seats aren"t bringing the high price they did several years back.

I went to that website, copied and pasted the part number into the search box. I learned the price, and I learned that part number is for a suspension, but I have no idea of the application.

Rusty,

An upper suspension is that scissor-acting mechanism for vertical movement seats that the row crop tractors use. Think they are all the same 06, 56, 66 thru 86 series tractors.

Thanks Bill, I appreciate it.

Yeah, I figured that, but by entering the part# into the search box, it should come back with a full description of the tractors that it fits, and it didn't do that.

Allan, as I check the time, "ya ain"t concentrating your urine!" Now, what big number tractor is ya looking to getcha a seat for? Why not put an old cast iron seat on. In the cold Wisc. winters, my uncle would lay a gunny sack on the cold iron.
