Usually it is something simple. You say you have adjusted the carb. It MUST be clean, that means soaking it overnight in carb cleaner, not parts cleaner, putting a kit in it and adjusting it to the specs given in the operator's/service manual. Make sure you have full gas flow to the carb and that the inlet screen inside the fitting that the fuel line screws into is clean. That is a stream of gas, not just a dribble. If you have not put in new points, plugs, and condensor, do so. But, the points and plugs can be cleaned and gapped if they are not too worn. If that does no good, and you are positive everything is to spec, then you start looking at compression, valves, etc. As I say do the simple things first. As to the charging, that could be many things. Begin by polarizing the generator. If your tractor has been converted to 12 volt, or if it now has a voltage regulator instead of a cut out relay, the LH switch will have no effect. A 52 H probably came from the factory with a distributer, voltage regulator and a 3 position light switch instead of the 4 position you mention. Magneto's were still an option at that time, though.
