Have a 140 that the hydraulic pump failing to generate sufficient pressure. The lift is slow and weak especially when cold .The tractor been quite heavily used over the years. Found a used pump from a 200 and wonder if they would interchange? I know I would probably be better off to bite the bullet and buy a new one for the 140 but as always trying to save a couple of dollars since it not used as much as it once was.

This forum has been a great help!!!
thanks in advance...

As simple as the pumps are I would open it up and take a look. I have seen a few pressure relief valve springs that were broke cause a weak lifting problem, all would not lift till the engine RPM was extremely high with a heavy load on the lift.
Last thing most folks would think to check would B the filter/screen.

Where might the filter/screen be located in the system?

Left side of touch control, 4 bolts retain the screen, its rite below the fill plug at the bottom of the control. Best of luck try'n to git a new one to fit. the last new one i got from CNH did not fit so I put the old one back in. Some have temp a sender cable in the center, its part of the screen assy. mite as well tell ya were the pressure relief spring is, remove the battery then the head on the touch control, the spring is in the center B-low the lift cylinders/center.
You can C this one is broke, this one worked but did not like to B loaded.

Mornin, Suggest you purchase the service manual to begin with. I would also check your filter it may be pulgged up with gunk, and remove your pump and check for wear, they can be rebuilt !

scotty, how are you rebuilding those pumps since gear sets are not available for them?

Afternoon George, If the gears and housing are badly worn theres not much you can do, but you can put a speedy sleeve on the driven shaft and replace the o-ring that rides on it. So truly that is not a rebuild just a bandaid !

Hi scotty. I knew that as I have done that to several of them. I just never really considered it a rebuild, and was wondering if you knew something I didn't. The last time I had checked gear sets weren't available and never have been that I knew of. Later.

Does the 140 have the Thompson or Cessna pumps on them ? Are they like on the 444 ?

They are similar to one on the 444, but different. It could have either or a Pesco on it.

If pump is slow and weak when cold you likely have something stopped up somwhere. Weak pumps get weaker as they warm up. The pumps will work on any of the small Farmalls. SA/C/SC/200/230/100/130/140/240 and so on.
