...and please share everything you learn about Super C throwout bearings.

One of the few truly unresolved mysteries on these boards relates to the throwout bearing on Super C.

The Owner's Manual clearly identifies a lubrication fitting on the throwout bearing (IN ADDITION TO the one on the retainer!) and lists a step for lubricating the throwout bearing itself in the scheduled maitanance (DISTINCT FROM the step for hitting the zerk on the retainer throught the port on the bell housing!).

But, none of us has ever found such a fitting on our throwout bearings.

Some of us, trying to find an answer, decided that the ORIGINAL bearings maybe did have a lube fitting and required periodic attention, but that it is not found on modern replacement bearings, which use teflon coatings for ''lifetime'' lubrication (what a misnomer!); or that there was a production change which didn't make it into the manual.

But at this point those are just guesses and we"d like to KNOW.

A. Bohemian,
I don't know anything about a Super-C, may be different, but my 1951 Super-A has both a clutch release bearing zerk, accessable through the bottom clutch housing handhole (1,000 hrs /once per year), and a clutch release bearing retainer zerk accessable through the small clutch housing dust cover on the left side (every 120 hrs of operation). I recently had to use a flashlight to find the release bearing zerk, but there it was - way up in there.
