Can the same type water pump that's on a C-123 engine be installed on a C-113? And will the benefit be worth the expense?

One major thing to keep in mind....
The thermosyphon has huge passages in the block. To allow the physical propertires of heating and cooling water to generate a cyclical flow. The passages may be to large for a water pump to generate any pressure. Allowing for a minor increase in water flow, and prob cause the pump to cavatate...

As said before, the benifits may not outway the overall cost and labor.

I wanted to do the same thing on my C. I had trouble finding all the required parts to make the swap. You need to get not only the pump, but you also need the rear body that bolts to the block, the pulley, and the top water outlet. You will also need to make sure you have a good thermostat in there.

I personally have never had long-term success with a thermostat. Seems like these need replaced every couple years. My thermo siphon system works well and needs nothing but regular antifreeze changes for corrosion resistance.

Personally, I feel, for the money spent you will have little benefit.

The headgasket is different also.

Not to mention all the hassle of taking it apart and putting it back together so it doesen't leak.

My two cents,
Phil

I added a pump several years ago to my C and it has worked very well. Brian is right about the rear body, it doesn't normally come when you buy a pump. But his comment about the upper radiator neck should be your first step. You need to get the upper neck with the hole for temp gauge sender and thermostat first. Verify that it will fit before you start on the water pump or you could be wasting your time.

The water pump will just bolt right up, but the radiators have changed in there and I know that the Super C upper water outlet would not fit on my Farmall B (the angle was wrong, so the hose wouldn't fit), so check that first. If you run a pump without the thermostat, the engine will never warm up.

If you don't use it, make sure you flush your block well, you wouldn't believe the crud that builds up in a thermosiphon system over the years.

You also need the head gasket with the SMALL water passages, to give the water pump some resistance, The theric syphon type head gasket has 1/2" holes, the water pump head gasket has about 1/8" holes.(My Super A has no pump, and always ran a little warm. I pulled the head & found a newer gasket under it, replaced it with the one with larger holes, and it runs cooler now)..... .DDG
