The head and a few other parts have been off this M for a while. Looking at the push rod tubes I diden't find a oil hole in the top (cup) or the bulb (bottom) of the tubes. I only took a quick look but got to thinking there should be a oil hole that goes all the way thru the tubes. Am I right about this? The rocker arms and the lifters look very good. Thanks for any help.

I don't know about the H but my Super A has a pressure fed system that enters on the center bolt that holds the rocker arm assembly on. The oil pressurizes the rockers and that is how the assembly is oiled. It is not a hydraulic lifter like a small block chevy has but they are mechanical and therefore do not send the oil up the shaft of the pushrod. Also an engine (car) rebuilder friend of mine was impressed at this setup because this is how many modern import cars setup the rocker assembly.

Bill it has been about a year since I rebuilt the H but I don't recall holes in the tubes.

Thank you Red. I did not have much time last eve. to look at them before it got to cold to be out messing with ole Red. But on the way to work I was thinking I needed to open the oil holes on them rods. I thought dirt had got in and I just could not see the holes anymore. Thanks agin for the info. These push rods have been out for a while and I would have liked to put them back in the hole that they were taken out of. But I am not the one that took things apart. All of these push rod are the same length arn't they?

Bill, The best way I know of to check the push rods for being bent or not is to find yourself a thick piece of plate glass about eight inches wide. Lay the push rods on the glass and roll them-if they wobble down the glass, replace them.

You should be sure to check that the pushrods are straight and that the tips are not loose. I had to replace some in my 460 because the spotwelds that held those tips in had broken. I suppose that they could have been repaired.
