I just got brake bands for my '52 Cub and noticed a big difference from the original. The metal used is much heavier on the new band. Aside form the clearance problems how well does this less flexable band work? Has anyone got them and tried them out? I am going to need good brakes when I am done because of the terrain. Thanks Again... Bob G.

Bob G., From one who has just replaced the bands on my '64, here's some ideas. I had to remove the drums from the shafts and have the drums turned about .040" to get the new bands to fit and still allow some movement for setting the proper tension (pedal free play). They are still tight but will loosen with use (wear). At the pivot points where the bands attach ensure the rivots are clean (no rust). Someone else recommended shaving down the new brake lining with a drum sander but I didn't do that. Good luck with those brakes.//FB
