I have heard of some sort of depth stop that goes on the fast hitch that will contact the valve plate on the cylinder to control height. It is suppose to be adjustable and have several fine notches on one side and course notches on the other side. Does anyone have a good picture of what this is suppose to look like. I need to make one for my 450 FH.

Thanks!!

Are you thinking of a caulk gun rod?

I have a 460 utility with nothing even close to that there is a linkage that is missing some parts. my quadrant lever is very difficult to operate for any precision. I have opted to get longer hoses for the cylinder and operate from the remote, with much greater accuracy.

Brian sorry to hear the part # was retired. On the website it didn`t say "retired" next to the depth rods part #.Maybe they haven`t updated their website for awhile. Anyway, later this week I may be going to the local salvage yard and I`ll keep my eyes peeled for one. Mark

Brian, You don`t need to be a dealer to look at the website.Try this link and at the bottom right corner it will say" begin your search for parts right here". Click on the words "right here" and it should take you to the website I tried to link you to on the other post. Then just follow the directions I gave you in the other post. I hope this is the depth stop you were describing. Mark

Yea, that worked. Thanks much!!! Yep that is the rod. I had a fellow send me this picture.

I will call my dealer tomorrow to see if he can get it for me. I don't understand why I cannot find the price online like at messicks.com. They have it where you can put in the PN and get a price. Says this part # not found. I will call tomorrow. I am sure it will be much cheaper than I can make it for with my hacksaw and gear file.

Thanks again!!!

Brian, I just looked it up at the CaseIH parts website and it shows the part you need as still available. The part # is 366284R1. I`ll try to paste a link for you, I don`t know if this site will let it work or not Link

Under>Link model type in 450 ,then click on Farmall 450 gas tractor, then click on hydraulic system ,then click on 369 hydraulic system, hydraulic cyl.Hope this helps. Mark

I put in a request on line to Carter & Gruenewald Co and they said number not found. I just got off the phone with my local dealer and he said it was retired. So now I am going to have to figure out a way to fabricate something. I know I have seen something like this on some sort of hardware. I just cannot place it right now. Would be nice to find something to work with. I can easily weld the loop and extension onto a rod if I could just find something with the notches already there. Otherwise, it will be a hacksaw and gear file.

I will call my dealer tomorrow to see if they can get it.

Thanks for the tip!!

Brian, I can't get a good enough picture with my camera to show any detail. If you don't get a new one or a picture from George maybe I can help another way. Are you the Brian from Illinois? To look at Case IH parts, try www.cngco.com. When page comes up click the place it says Case IH on line parts catalog.

Yep I am from Illinois. Near Peoria. I tried that site too and it says the PN is no good. I am thinking that the number may have been replaced with a new number.

Be hard to make without using a actual rod for a pattern. End of rod that contacts flaper over pin in cylinder is a seperate part held to rod by a small pin. You also need to have the correct pin that connects cylinder rod to upper 2 point lift arms. It has a hole for rod to pass through and hollow inside for spring and metal piece to lock in notches of stop rod. Not all 560 used a hydraulic cylinder with flaper and stop pin and upper cylinder pin wasn't the same as a stop rod type. I could try a picture tomorrow if you still need one.

Yes, please. I need a picture. I know what it does and where it goes. I just don't know what it looks like. I have the part that goes on the lift arm with the hole and slot that it fits into. Just need a design for the pin. I can make anything given enough information.

Thanks!!

There are two types of stroke limiters.

The first is a series of uncompressible donuts that fit over the chrome piston rod.

The second is a plate that clamps on the piston rod. It contacts a small SS pin on the hydraulic cylinder head. When the pin is touched, the hydraulic fluid short circuits and is sent back to the reservoir. That is the better system as it is infinitly adjustable and does not "dead head" the hydraulic system.

Mine is the later one. I need a picture or the like. Actually, I think you are thinking of the Super C.

The 450-560 have a plate over the pin that is hinged on one side. The pin travels with the end of the arm the cylinder connects to. When it gets where you have it set, the pin contacts the plate thus pushing on the pin underneath.

Thanks!!
