My 826 sleeves were leaking pretty bad. Oil was milky but i think it had only idled for a couple of hours while parked by owner by the road. Who knows though.

I"ve changed the oil/filter a couple of times and everything seems fine after about 5 hours of idling/pulling a disk. when can i tell if i am out of the woods with ruined bearings etc?

Now it only seems to leak a few drops every month or so which i drain it everytime i start it. was reading that even a tiny bit of antifreeze is harmful in oil.

what is a good solution for stopping all the rust with a water solution and draining it between uses in the winter (no anti-freeze)

just cannot afford a rebuild on a hobby farm.

that german diesel is a cool engine!!

the quick flush would be to get a cooling system flush product fro something like napa. follow the directions. back flush to get as much rust out as you can. then flush system with clean water, and drain completely. i would refill with antifreeze and add a tube or two of stop leak in the radiator. get the power one, napa sells it, it come in a tube about the size of a roll of quarters. i would also recommend you use premix antifreeze, or if you are mixing it yourself use distilled water to keep the minerals out of the cooling system. the stop leak may seal up your leak.

reread my answer, i type terrible. the stop leak you want is a powdered aluminum type sealant. looks kind of like silvery gold fine metal flakes. doesnt seem to plug up a cooling system like bars leak.
