I thought the last H's were made in 1953 and only a few were made that year then the supers were from late 53 or started in 54. SO did they start over with a on the H or super H.

I've got three Hs ranging in age from 1940 to 1950. All three have engine serial numbers that match the chassis serial number on the tag.

Some real early tractors had a serial # stamped on the fram rail, but you probably don't have one that early. Good news is the engine # matches the chassis # almost 100% of the time on a H if the engine was not changed sometime.

The tag is on the left hand side of the bell housing, not the engine, the one on the engine is stamped into the cast above the oil fill. Other things to look at are cast codes, look for them on the side of the engine, the axels, the main frame of the top of the operators platform right by the shifter, those are the easy ones to spot. example 12 30 O would dec 30, 1945 P= 46 and soo on in 55 they reset to "A" then sooo on again.

its pretty impossible to get the exact number, you can by using the cast codes get an ranage that it would be in, but to get the exact number its lost to history.
