Im trying to get the water pump apart on my super h to go through and check all the components to see if there are good. Ive been able to get most of it apart but am having trouble with the rest. For you guys that have a part book, ive gotten the main pulley section seperated from the casting that bolts to the engine. Im just haveing trouble getting into where the bearings are. On the top side i am down to the oil seal and on the bottom seal i am down to the oil seal. I cant get both of them to come off. Is there a special technigue to get them off. I also saw a place where there is a little stud with a slot for a screw driver. Is this supposed to be loosed for the two sections to fall apart. Thanks guys, Your answer are always help.

Just get inside the pulley with a punch and knock the bearing out each end and the oil seal and spacer will fall out. As far as taking the pulley apart you need a plate to fit between the adjustable pulley and the bottom pulley to press it apart. You need to have the pulley upside down to do that.

Thanks for the help. I was able to get the oil seals off both ends and it seams like the bearings are good yet. They dont have much up and down movement. If this is the case would there be a reason to take the two pieces apart. Is there any more small parts inside that should be looked at. Also the shaft that the impeler shaft rides in which is attached to the casting that bolts to the engine. What would be the best way to get that apart. I tried a large punch and that didnt work. Maybe a shop press. Thanks for the help!

I don't recall exactly where, but there is a small pin that goes through that I believe holds the half pulley flange in place. That is the stationary flange, not the one that screws up to tighten the belt. You can't get that threaded flange off until you remove the fixed flange. You have to drive the pin out with a small punch and then you can press the flange off. It's bugger to get the holes lined up so you can get the pin back in when you press it back together. I had to try 2 or 3 times before I got it right.
