Casting number question

Does someone know the code for casting number date codes? I have a farmall C. The clutch housing has a code of 6-1-T, the deck has a code of 4-17-T, the touch control box has a code of 5-9-T, and the engine has a code of 11-30-V. The engine number translates to a 1954 super C, but the tractor is just a C. How do these codes tell the casting date? It looks like the ID tag was once on the battery box, but it's missing.

The code is month*day*year. Thus *6*1*T* would be June 1, 1950. The V code would be from '51. Officially, U was used for part of '51 and W for the rest. But some Vs may have been used. Look closely at that code again and verify if it is a U or V and let us know. The engine numbers on the C or Super C did NOT match the serial numbers. The engine is brobably from '51 or '52, even though it may match a tractor serial number from 1954. The id tag should have been on the right side of the tool box below the seat.

You either have a 1950 C that had a replacement 51 engine (51 code is U, there is no V) or you have a 51 C that was built using old castings. Without a serial number, I would say it is most likely a 50 with a 51 engine. I also suggest you buy Guy Fay's book.

The engine number, which I presume should also be the serial number says it's a 1954.

Wow that is confusing. From Guy Fay's IH Data book, T would indicate a 1950. V is probably a U since V was not used which is a 1951. I think you have a multi breed. Any green parts on it????? ????? ?

Thanks, the T is what I was wondering about. The engine number says it;s a 1954 super C engine. Is the first numbers in the casting code the day and month, or month and day?
No green, that is on my 1938 F20 narrow. But the good news is that although the green is everywhere, even under bolt heads, I found some red under the green on the underside of the U joint cover. I was worried for a while!

Day month on the casting codes. Sounds like that C is on its second engine.
