My dad, who died 3 years ago, had an international cub tractor which he restored, rebuilt engine, and painted about 10 years ago. My mother wants to sell the tractor, which I am very upset about, because of the memories of my dad and his little tractor. I would like to buy this tractor from my mother but we are at a loss of how much it is worth. Can someone please help me? We beleive that it was manufactured between 1948-1950. It looks and runs like a new tractor. I don't know what the serial number is. If you can offer any information about how much this tractor is worth your help would be much appreciated. Thankyou, Betty

I recently repurchased my Dad's 1976 Cub Tractor which I had sold 2yrs earlier. I thought that I would never garden, and for sure I could cut the grass with a bush hog (hooked to a 3000 ford). It was not a minute pass the sale I regretted selling it. Two years passed and I would see the tractor under my neighbors shed, each time I would wish I had it back. Finally he decided to sale And I purchased. So, my advice is, purchase the Cub no matter what the price, memories are priceless.

Betty, ask your mom to give it to you. I'd feel pretty lousy chargin' my kids for a tractor.

The problem is usually with the brothers and sisters who grumble behind you back that mom gave dads tractor away and I really wanted it ..... blah blah whinge whinge etc etc.
Sometimes better to buy it!!!!

You got it! I worked a deal with Dad to buy the tractors and other equipment along with the barn that sets between us. My sister and I get along fine, and we made sure the deal was all open and up-front in terms of what we were doing. I know that when Dad's gone, this is going to GREATLY simplify dealing with family members that have NO idea what the stuff is worth, and NO sentimental attachment to any of it.

When I told Dad I wanted him to sell me the barn, his initial response was "Well...you'll have no trouble getting it when I'm gone..." Then I explained to him that I didn't want to be in a position of having to arrange things in a hurry, or deal with cleaning out all the stuff he's squirrelled away in there since 1939 for a sale! He said "Well.....you're not gonna want all that stuff....." And I said "Sell me the barn and all contents. Then the "stuff" is mine too, and I can keep or get rid of it at my own pace!" We worked a deal, informed my sister beforehand and offered her chance for input. She was relieved that she wouldn't have to deal with any of that someday, and I was relieved that I wouldn't be picking through it with my brother-in-law!!

My Dad's lil ole' cub cost me $2425.00 and was in parade ready condition
I figure I'll get 30 years of use and Memories
so it figures this way:
2425.00 / 30 = 83.33 a year or 23 cents a day
well worth the investment!
Good Luck!!!

On the market: $2200
For you: Priceless

The market value I quoted is based on a "Parade Ready" Massey-Harris Pony advertised for sale in Upstate NY at $2050.
The pony was about the same size as the cub, only it was made a little later than your father's. I'm not sure they are as collectable as the cub.
Hope that helps.

An added comment.....you'll see a lot of persons on this and other tractor web pages, attempting to locate a tractor that their parent had, or one like what their parents had. Thus, as the other person stated, you are probably doing the right thing to try to retain it if the circumstances allow you to do so.

Betty Cubs vary widely from region to region. For central Indiana I would think a fair value would be $2,500. Try to hang onto it if you can.

Hello,
I know of two Cubs--one for sale and the other just sold at Auction in southwest missouri.
One is for sale and I beleive it has rebuilt engine, reasonable paint, etc. I beleive he's asking $1650.
The second sold at auction this past Saturday and included a belly mower. It was described by a former employee as running excellent, starting on the first spin, had good/excellent tires and good paint. It sold for slightly over $1350--I don't have the exact amount but it was between $1350 and $1400.
Hope this information is helpful.
